Latino hot shot Bobby Martinez isn't just making waves in the surf scene, as he strives to capture the world title, but in Latin and American communities. Bobby serves as an active role model to kids that have fallen off the beaten path. Born and raised in the barrio of Santa Barbara, CA, Bobby witnessed many of his friends and family checking in and out of gangs. To help kids shed the violent gang culture that he side-stepped, Bobby involves himself with Homies Surf to Turf Camp, a group created by Bobby's childhood friends that were once gang members themselves. This group selects eight or nine kids that were rival gang members to live together for a week, where they learn to surf and co-exist peacefully.
