Name: Maleet
Age: 25
Why he's Cool: Producer/DJ/Record Collector
Where his family is from: Colombia
Where He Lives: Elizabeth, NJ

Maleet is a first generation American who made it his goal to expose the sounds of forgotten Latino musicians to a whole new generation of music fans. Maleet has discovered some of his most prized records in some pretty strange places. You might find him digging for albums anywhere — from the local beauty salon and barber shop, to the far reaches of Latin America! The only downside to his music quest? Developing allergies from the dust while flipping through record bins! But that's not going to stop this music hunter from continuing his search for the rare sounds of Latino artists gone by...

Music: Music is his life.

Maleet is cool!!!

Maleet is the next in line to be one of the greatest producers in Hip Hop History. I have been following his career now for sometime and he is so versatile and organic that its inevitable that he will make it. Alot of people need to stop sleeping and open their eyes and realize that this guy is gonna be up there with Primo, Pete Rock, and Dilla. Much love to you Maleet, keep doing what you do and I can't wait to hear with what you come up next. Peace

Your music is dope. You are dope. Yup.

DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS KID! Maleet is one of the most talented, most dedicated DJs/Producers I know. He can flip any style but never loses touch with the heart and the soul of the music. This is his passion. You can see it pour out of him when he's in his element. He does it for the love. Most people just make beats. Maleet makes timeless melodies. Definitely going down in history as one hip hop's greatest. You know that "IT" factor? Dude owns it. Besides, anyone who lists "T.R.O.Y." as their #1 favorite knows what it's all about. Keep it up Maleet. We believe in you.

everyone does the same old crap, its tired. stop just recycling music that's already proven to be good, anyone can do that. at least do it in a different way - this has been done to death already. :(

Submitted by Cesar Moreno on 07.09.2007 at 04:05pm

Wasup. I knew Maleet back in highschool, and he been hot since then as far as the beats. It's a blessing that he's made it this far. Even tho we bumped heads back in those days, much respect to you and ya movement!

Submitted by Maleet-Fantatic on 07.09.2007 at 04:15pm

I wanna see you dig for records, chop up the sample, find the right drums, make sure everything is aesthetically sound, and have the end result sound like something totally different and exciting, then you can talk crap Jenn-gineer. You know people always talk smack about things they know nothing about. Its okay to voice your opinion but when you act like you know a culture and really know diddly squat, then that makes you a hater. You probably only like Rock music and Garth Brooks. You probably never even heard his beats. It doesn't really matter though, Maleet has thousands of fans who think otherwise. So in the your opinion means nothing.

Finally I can leave some love for my brother! He is the next big thing in hip hop. Ever since I heard "Message to My Wifey" I was hooked on his tracks. He is always changing and evolving and staying ahead of the game. He opened my eyes/ears to a lot of artists I had not heard of before. He is a positive influence in not just the Latin environment/culture but to all who know him. God Bless my brother. And keep doin your thang, thang.

wrong. it is a challenge to be unique, its not easy. i'm just sayin people who have the way to get seen, like he does, should at least try to be unique and not only rely on the music other people created to get noticed. there are millions of dudes out there doing the same thing. i did listen, and the first lyric i heard was something like 'to the ladies'. zzzzz, come on. its been done to death! say something different! you can tell he's got a brain, not a dumb guy at all. however small, a platform is an honor - use it wisely!

Submitted by Maleet-fanatic on 07.09.2007 at 04:35pm

See you said the first lyric you heard is "To the ladies" Maleet is a producer not a rapper. He produced that track, the beat, the arrangement, he put that together. Someone else was rapping. He has instrumentals with all live musicians playing on some of his beats. What you heard is barely even scratching the surface. You don't even know the guy and you act like your Judge Judy by saying he isn't unique. If someone doesn't like his beats fine, but I'm not gonna let you come up on here judging him like you know his genius. For real, you look like a hater. You and Bizbiz. When he is at the top and your still on message boards hating, the world will know your true intentions. So before you judge do a little more investigating before you try to sh*t on someone. This is the last response to your antics to sabotage his shine. Your not worth anymore time.

I want to thank everybody who left a comment and who supports me and my music. As I read the comments I see that my music makes a difference in some of your lives, and that means the world to me. To the people who defend me, I'm flattered but please don't waste your time. You can't please everybody, there will always be critics who throw you under the bus, there will always be lost souls who live by the saying "Misery loves company". To those people I say please don't take this small promotional video as a summary of my complete artistic being. It is but a small insight into a world vast with creativity, passion and love. Some might think that I'm just another "Joe Schmo", a kid waiting in a long line to get in to the same party. Let me tell you something, I have been doing this for well over 10 years, I am respected and endorsed by my some of the most prolific producers and Dj's to have ever done it. I have just remained humble throughout the years and now I feel its time for the world to know my name. Once again I thank all of my fans and friends who have shown love and support, please visit my website www.maleet.com for more music, info, and other goodies. You can also visit me and drop me a line at my myspace page www.myspace.com/maleetbeats. Peace and blessings to all, and I'll see you at the top!!!!!!!

When I first met Maleet, I knew he was good cat. His Handshake, His Love For The Music and Gut Busting Honesty speaks volumes. At First, I thought he was some "kid" who grew up too fast, but he is well respected in the community.

I want to start by sayin Maleet is a great person doing great things with his talents.
i remember the first time i heard a beat of his in a basement party in montclair...i knew i would be seeing him in the future. His sound is my favorite...he aproached me when i was spinning at a later event, and showed me mad love towards what i was doing. To me it was such a huge compliment coming from someone whos music I truly admire. His ear is outstanding, and he is a master at his craft...no question about it. He is honestly one of my favorite producers that i've ever listened to. Since we met he has helped me a great deal with my own production, and because of that i have now found my way in to my own sound and have learned so much about how to grow with my music...
please people...take the time to listen...give the utmost respect to him. He deserves it......much respect to my brother

People are sooo funny, yo. Why can't we ever uplift each other? We are always complaining about the "white man" doing us wrong and putting us down. But really we do it to each other every day. Especially when one of us is successful or trying to be successful. It makes me sick to my stomach. Stop hating on the man. Have you guys ever heard of the saying if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all? You will never move forward in life, if you keep trying to hold someone else back. Think about it people. Much love to my brother, who is trying to do something positive with his life. He's not hustling, selling drugs, killing people. He's not lazy. He works a nine to five, takes care of his family and creates some beautiful music. Do you know how hard that is? How hard it is to stay motivated, in a field where it is so hard to get put on? And he finally just gets a little shine, and people want to say negative things. Please people get a life and stay out of his. God Bless, Maleet!

Much 2 My Brother From Another,
Crys

Love what this guy is doing. "Keeping music alive for future generations." Good music I would add. Where can I buy some of his tracks and what rappers/singers is he working with? This makes me proud to be Latino. People like him doing cool things for our culture. Keep it up! All of us.

I had the pleasure of working with Maleet a few years back. What a dedicated hard working person indeed. He has a heart of gold. A respectable former collegue that was a pleasure to work with. Maleet would always bring out the positive side of things throug his music. It was obvious then as it is now that music is and always will be his passion. For all you haters who have nothing better to do than to leave negative Karma on his comments page please get a life and accept things for what they are Maleet will be successful. Wishing you all the best always Maleet. Your friend Milly and family are very happy for you and yours:)
