Where He Lives: South Bronx, NY
Sylvestre, a South Bronx NY native, is a leader on and off the field. A senior at the New Explorers High School, Sylvestre says his hard work, discipline and determination stem from the skills he learned playing football. Not only did football play an important role in building Sylvestre's social and educational experiences, but it also provided him with an extended family in the form of teammates and his head coach.
Earlier in his high school career, Sylvestre needed a boost in building up his academic record. After a chance meeting with Francis, his high school's Parent Supervisor, Sylvester got smart about his studies and began to excel in the classroom. Today he is a straight-A student, School President, and captain of the Varsity football team. He plans on receiving a full scholarship to a university of his choice with a major in computers. This will make Sylvestre the first in his family to graduate — which makes this all-star's mother his #1 fan.
Music: "Music relaxes me before my games and helps me concentrate on my skills."
